                                                            Dr. Ernest Holmes:   Life works by direct affirmation.  This is why we are told to be still and know that all things are possible to God.  We are told to affirm, positively to assert, to declare this truth in the face of all apparent opposition; to claim abundance in the midst of poverty; to affirm health in the midst of sickness; to decree joy in the midst of sorrow; and to announce the kingdom of God here and now. -  from the book "This Thing Called Life"

               Love and Faithful-ness are so intertwined that it is difficult to understand the difference.   We are faithful to those we love and Love is the stimulus of that faith-full-ness.  Without Love, faith has little energy or conviction..... but with love, faith can move us to hope, while enduring situations that appear to be hope-less.  As Dr. Holmes writes in the book, "This Thing Called Life," we must claim our Good in the face of all apparent opposition.  It is Love within us ... that spark of the Divine within each and every one of us, that moves us to be able to do this .. without Love ... hope-less-ness takes over.

             This week I received the following question (the name has been omitted for anonymity):  "REV. BATES, I HAVE BEEN PRACTICING RELIGIOUS SCIENCE FOR ABOUT THREE YEARS NOW, I'VE READ MANY BOOKS AND I LOVE THE CONCEPTS. I HAVE ATTENDED THE SOM CHURCH IN MY AREA AND EVEN USED PRACTITIONERS. I AM TRYING TO KEEP THIS AS SHORT AS POSSIBLE, BUT THE BASIC THING IS THIS, IF WE CANT PROVE THESE THINGS TO BE TRUE IN OUR ACTUAL REALITY, THEN THE TEACHINGS MEAN NOTHING. I BELIEVE I PRACTICE ALL I HAVE LEARNED AND I CONTINUE TO READ AND LEARN MORE EVERYDAY, BUT THE FAILURE TO DEMONSTRATE HAS ME RAPIDLY LOSING FAITH. I AM THE SAME OR EVEN A LITTLE WORSE OFF THAN I WAS THREE YEARS AGO.  WHERE IS THIS ABUNDANCE, LOVE, AND UNFAILING POWER? PLEASE HELP ME BECAUSE I WOULD HATE TO CONCLUDE THAT THIS IS ALL JUST A NICE IDEA WITH NOTHING TO BACK IT UP. IF YOU NEED MORE SPECIFIC DETAILS I WILL GLADLY PROVIDE THEM, BUT AS FOR NOW I JUST WANT TO TELL YOU A FAST OVERVIEW OF THE PROBLEM. THANK YOU . LOVE TO ALL,  XXXXXX"

             Like most messages I receive this one has the answer in it.  We must never believe that we can fail to demonstrate this Principle ... to do so is to believe that God ignores us ... this could never be the Truth.  In scripture we can read, "I have loved you with an ever-lasting Love."  The Master Mind Jesus stated, "would a father give you a stone if you asked for a fish?"  God always returns to us what we ask for ... but we must ask with Love ... knowing that our faith-full-ness to God is the answer to our prayer.

           And how do we ask? .... we ask knowing that God responds to us with the Good that we seek or something Greater.  "Where is this abundance, love, and unfailing power?" ... it is within our consciousness.  We are believing that it is, or we are believing that it is not ... and according to our beliefs .... we receive ... precisely that which we think into this Infinite Mind that Is the Mind Of God.  Thoughts of abundance and love, return to us abundance and love.  Thoughts that are filled with doubts and worry .... return to us doubts and worry.  God is not interested in changing our circumstances ... only in changing us.  Changing our thoughts into thoughts of Love, Peace, Joy, Happiness, and Confidence.

         This Love (God) that created us and the universe that we live in - Is Powerful ... beyond measure .... let's stop arguing with God ... and accept our Good .. in whatever form we desire ... by knowing that it is our acceptance that brings it into visibility!
