From
the Holy Bible ... John 10:34 - Jesus answered them, “Is
it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods?”
This is a powerful
statement and powerfully radical when viewed from the time in history
that Jesus made this statement. Remember, the consciousness of the
people in this ancient time were still worshiping a God
out there created in the image of man; something to be feared. And
so we know that the Radical Rabbi ruffled more than a few feathers when
He made this statement ... and for the most part, no one truly
understood what He was saying. He was in fact, teaching the
Science of Mind.
To arrive at a clear
understanding of this statement we need to look at other teachings and a
demonstration of healing from the Master Mind Jesus.
The first statement comes from the Gospel of Matthew 8:22 - "But
Jesus said unto him, Follow me; and let the dead bury their dead."
This is the first step for most of us to take in order to make use of
the Law of Mind. Knowing that Jesus was speaking from the
"subjective" ... referring to Universal Law, He was telling us
to forget the past ... and stay in the "Present" ... the
Eternal "Now" ... yesterday is dead to today ... what we did
yesterday, last week, last month or years ago ... was "right and
perfect" for the time ... but today is a new day ... a new
beginning ... old failures and successes ... old ideas and concepts ...
can only hold us to yesterday ... and for many of us create a pattern of
lack and limitation in our mind and therefore in our experiences.
The second statement also
comes from the Gospel of Matthew 6:6 -
"But
thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut
thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which
seeth in secret shall reward thee openly." Many people
will tell you that Jesus is merely restating the scriptural statement, "Be
still and know that I Am God" ... but this statement goes
beyond even that. He is telling us to enter into the "Silence
of our Thoughts" ... get still and listen for that "still
small voice" which guides us to pray ... and as we pray "knowing
that It Is" ... whatever Good that it is that we desire ...
then we are to keep our prayer secret ... between us and God alone ...
don't discuss it even with our closest friends ... don't ask anyone's
opinion about it ... leave it to God. When our prayer is manifest
... conditions change ... or that which we desire is realized in the
physical world ... the demonstration will speak for itself. There
is spiritual power in maintaining this intimate relationship with God
... "who is closer to us than breathing"
... in following Jesus' instruction we are depending on a
Universal Principle ... and as Dr. Bitzer would state, "Principle
knows and does." And when the demonstration is made
... we must use integrity and give "all credit to God" ... as
I am certain we will call on Him again.
Next we move to a work of
healing from the Gospel of Luke 6:8 -
"But
He knew their thoughts, and said to the man which had the withered hand,
Rise up, and stand forth in the midst. And he arose and stood
forth." The healing of the man with the withered hand
was accomplished because Jesus had mastered the two lessons above ... He
did not rely on past successes ... He did not look to the world's
opinion ... and He kept His desire to be an instrument of healing
between Him and God. This healing was recorded but we do not know
how many times Jesus "knocked on the door of
His consciousness" before He had the confidence and
self-assurance to so keenly direct the "Power
of God" to make this demonstration of healing ... "I
of mine own self can do nothing" He stated simply and
profoundly.
Religion has colored the
work of Jesus with such mystery and has purposely set Him apart from the
rest of us, so that few people realize how simple His teachings were ...
and many people believe that His great work was merely stories that were
exaggerated through the years. Jesus was human and He was Divine
... and so are we. And
as we use the Principles that He taught ... Principles of Mind ...
"it will be done unto us as we believe" ... and as we put into
practice the teachings above ... what we will come to believe is
possible will have seemed too incredible for us before ... we will find
that viewing Life as God All-In-All creates within us a greater
understanding of our inherent power to take dominion and authority over
the things that concern as. As He stated so clearly,
"Ye are gods."
And
So It Is!
