"God was NOT ...
created in man's image" ...
this statement enters my mind so often these days.
As we see the rise in power that evangelical Christians have been given
by the Bush Administration ... it becomes almost a daily spiritual
practice for me to remind myself that the Christian Right Agenda has
nothing to do with the Teachings of Jesus ... they call it
"Christian" ... but as the "bad-boy-preacher"
Franklin Graham says, the ancients thought the Earth was flat but that
didn't make it so. Unfortunately, so many people confuse
Christianity with the Teachings of Jesus. I don't think the
Radical Jesus would relate to the modern day evangelical movement at all
... spirituality and politics ... I think He would suspect, as I do,
that they are more like modern day versions of the Pharisees of His time
... more faithful to the love of power than the Power of Love. In
the past couple of weeks we saw members of the Bush Administration seek
the "approval" of the Christian Right of Supreme Court nominee
Harriet Miers ... how do they expect a Supreme Court nominee to
understand the Constitution's "separation of church and state"
... when they blur it so badly themselves? And the evangelical
Christian's run for the "bone" like a bunch of hungry, selfish
dogs ... they don't care about anything else but their own agenda.
We have oil companies with billions of dollars in profits and the Senate
republicans are looking to cut medicare and medicaid but do the
evangelical Christians speak out against this? ... you know the answer!
I still don't understand that if George Bush reads the Bible every day
why he doesn't teach his people about the "sowing and reaping"
that the Master Mind Jesus taught?
So,
what does all this have to do with God? ...
it really doesn't have much to do with God ... only religion ... which
is man-made. There is no god that cares whether we choose to
experience Good or something else. The Universal Law of
"sowing and reaping" or "cause and effect" ... is no
respecter of persons. It doesn't matter whether they have the
"ear" of the president or the plumber ... it doesn't matter.
The Law does Its perfect work ... giving us back precisely what we give
to the Law through our thoughts, words and actions ... the things we do
to each other ... we do to ourselves! The Radical Jesus explained
all of this very clearly ... but only those who have "eyes to see
and ears to hear" have paid any attention. And if you are
blinded by "religion" ... you probably won't get it either.
If you want to experience more fear ... "cause" someone to be
afraid ... and you will experience more fear. If you want to
experience more peace ... "cause" someone else to feel at
peace ... and you will experience more peace. It is that simple.
You cannot have ... what you are unwilling to give ... that would be an
attempt to manipulate the Law ... and this we cannot do ... remember It
is no respecter of persons. When we cheat, manipulate or
intimidate to get what we want ... we may get it ... but we will get
some misery with it.
Like the ancient
Pharisees, the modern day evangelicals know every letter of the Hebrew
Law ... but have little love in their hearts. Oh, yes, they say
they do ... but what did Jesus say about them? They love to talk
about their calls being answered at the White House and about how many
people they have in their temples and how much money they give to
political action funds. A couple of weeks ago, someone forwarded
me a message from Rick Warren, author of "The Purpose Driven
Life" and founder of one of the Christian mega-ministries ... and
in the message he stated that he didn't know about AIDS before ... but
... now he sees that outreaching to people with AIDS can help bring more
people to Jesus Christ (????). Now, how did Rick Warren not know
anything about AIDS ... has he not "eyes to see and ears to
hear?" ... in other words he just saw it as a
"homosexual" thing, I guess, and was not aware as are most
people in the world that the greatest numbers of people with AIDS are
not homosexual, nor do they live in the United States. What a
wonderful, caring and giving Christian statement this was???
Back
to our lesson .... "God was not made in man's image" ... and
"God is no respecter of persons" ... to God, everything is
"groovy" ... whatever we want ... It will give to us
abundantly ... but it is up to us to "have eyes to see and ears to
hear" ... and "choose" correctly ... what we give to
others knowing that the Law will return it to us ... abundantly!
And
So It Is!

Love Use Me In Its Own Good Way,
