A few days ago I was drawn into a contemplative meditation regarding the
scriptural statements, "there is no power but of God" and
"in nothing be anxious." During
this time I had been asked to pray for someone in intensive care. It
came to me that to admit that disease or anything else, has us in its
grasp, is to believe in a power opposed to God - this is breaking the
first commandment, "You shall have no gods before me."
This is certainly an easy statement to understand intellectually, and very
easy to say, but how about demonstrating it? What happens when we
are faced with illness, debt, being broke, out of a job or being
lonely? Do we still believe that there is no power but of God?
Can we honestly say we do not have an anxious thought? The first
step in healing is to not be afraid of the condition. But, our
conditioned mind believes in so many things that are apart from
God. We have lived with most of these beliefs our entire life and
they are a part of our language, our feelings and our subconscious
mind. We have made many of them our "Law of Mind."
Words like cancer, stroke and heart attack create an alarm in our minds
almost immediately. The same is true for divorce, infidelity,
bankruptcy, auto accident, and many others. The sounds around
us can also ignite feelings of fear within us; police car sirens, fire
truck sirens, ambulance sirens; all of these create a life that is
susceptible to fear, a life filled with anxiety. All of these are
part of the world that we live in and our feelings about all of these
attach us to the world condition. The Radical Rabbi called us
to " be in the world, but not of the
world." He said we must separate ourselves from the
world beliefs and the appearances that we see.
Now, we must figure out how to enjoy living this life and yet be
"not of the world." If someone tells you that it is
easy, they aren't doing it! It is not easy. It is not easy to
turn from everything that we see, hear and collectively believe and know
that much of it is a blatant lie that denies God. But,
Now is the appointed time, today is the beginning of our amazing Good
fortune. Why is that? Because we don't have to do
it! God will do it for us, if we will let Him do it through
us. We begin by changing our consciousness from a sense of "being
in the world" to a faith that is so dynamic that change occurs
quickly. We let go
of the belief, the idea, we erase from our mind, that anything is
impossible. We let go of the idea that "time" is
necessary. Our belief in "time" creates a belief in
"delay" and then "delay" becomes a Law of our Mind.
God does not know time or space or any of the things that hinder us in our
human condition. When we look at this Principle of Life as it
expresses as gravity we can become more aware of how we have been
"deceived" into believing that healing takes time, or there is a
process involved.
Let's take a few moments and transcend what we "know" about the
world and what we "know" about time and space and contemplate
the following: the moment we activate gravity, it responds to
us. Gravity is energy. Spirit is energy. Both
operate with a similar nature. Gravity is natural and normal.
It is so natural and normal that most of us don't even think about it as
we use it constantly. The same applies to Spiritual Law. It is
always in operation, just like gravity, but we are not aware of it.
Nor are we aware of how powerful it is. The Source of Spiritual
Power is God, the All-Powerful, All-Knowing, All-Presence. The
Master Teacher understood this to be true. He knew that there is no
power apart from God and that God is not dependent or aware of time and
space. When Jesus invoked the Power of God to multiply the
loaves and fishes to feed the multitudes gathered around him, he did not
think in the terms of "process, time or space," but saw the
need and then saw it filled without delay. He
invoked the Power and Presence of God in Faith, without doubting and
without being concerned that the hungry crowd would turn on him.
He knew that the
Power of God would respond, just like gravity, by activating it with the
energy of faith, by aligning his consciousness with It. He did
not use magic, nor did he take credit for what he did. He knew that
it was "the Father that works in me, I of mine
own self can do nothing." He allowed this Power to work
through him, as him and for him and it did - immediately.
For us, this means we must give up our ideas of time, process and
delay. We must give up the idea that God is dependent on anything
but Itself. We can do absolutely nothing of our own self, but for
God All Things Are Possible - right now, without delay, whether it
involves multiplying loaves and fishes or revealing health where there is
an appearance of sickness, or prosperity where there is an appearance of lack or
a beautiful loving relationship where there is an appearance of loneliness
or discord. Let's give up everything that diminishes our zeal and
enthusiasm for the things that we ought to do - BEGINNING
RIGHT NOW - LET'S BE REALISTIC AND EXPECT A
MIRACLE - IN THIS MOMENT!
And
