"Brick
walls are there for a reason. The brick walls aren't there to keep us
out. The brick walls are there to show us how badly we want
things." - Randy
Pausch, Professor, Carnegie Mellon University
Randy Pausch
was given a diagnosis of only 3-6 months to live, but instead of
spending his time focusing on his illness, he is spending his time
teaching people how to "live life to its fullest." I was
gifted with watching Professor Pausch on "Good Morning
America" and I was filled with respect and admiration for him and
for what he is doing. Although he does not see his lectures as
religious or spiritual, there is a definite spiritual message in them.
As we think about the symbolism of the
"brick walls" we can understand that these bricks are but the
ideas and thoughts that we have about life. And as a brick wall is
built one brick at a time, we can know that we have learned the things
that "appear" to block us, one belief at a time. So, in
knowing that all is in mind, we can begin to examine out thoughts about
the "brick walls" that seem to be between us and the thing we
desire to have, to do, or to be. And as we begin to examine the
beliefs, "one brick at a time" ... we can realize that simply
by taking "one brick" out of the wall ... we let in the Light.
In other words, we let in the "possibility" therefore opening
our mind to solutions and guidance.
The most definite way in which we remove these
"bricks" is in the Absolute. We replace the belief that
tells us that we can't, with the Truth that we can ... for when we align
ourselves with the Truth, we are aligning ourselves with the Absolute.
And we get this Truth from many sources ... but most definitely from the
work of the Master Mind Jesus. Jesus taught that "all things
are possible for one who believes" ... and as we believe that there
is a Power and Presence available to us ... we can connect with the
Power that does the work through us, as us, and for us. "The
Father works, and then I work," stated the Great Metaphysician
Jesus. His teaching, "in theory" was not original to him
... but his great gift to us was that he taught us how to believe in the
Absolute ... and it is in the Absolute that we make the demonstration
... and this was how he made the demonstrations that are attributed to
him. When the man with the withered arm came to him, Jesus could
not have healed him if he saw a "brick wall" ... instead, he
knew that in the Absolute, if he saw the arm healed, the Infinite
Intelligence that created the arm would follow the pattern of his
thought ... and see it healed as well ... and it was healed. This
was Absolute ... All God, All Good ... perfect, whole, and complete!
Dr. Holmes in the Science of Mind, defines the
"Absolute" as "Self-Existent and Self-Sufficient"
... unconditioned perfection, God. Truth is absolute and remains
unaffected by the opinions, desires or beliefs of people. It is no
respecter of persons, religions, or cultures. It is similar to
gravity and the laws that govern gravity ... but more powerful, for it
includes gravity and All that Is. It works with precision, similar
to the laws of mathematics, but can never be limited to our human
understanding. We can define It as Truth, Life and Spirit ... and
in this definition we can know that It is always "First Cause"
... and all other laws and "causes" are subject to it. I
may believe that I am less than perfect, whole and complete ... but, in
the Absolute, this is never the Truth of me. And as we accept this
Higher Truth about ourselves in our mind, and have the realization that
we are a part of God ... miracles become normal and natural.
[ from ABCnews.com ] Pausch
says he's not afraid of death, but does worry about the process of
dying. ... "Well the particular way I'm going to die is not going
to be particularly pleasant. It will probably be physically
uncomfortable and it won't be an easy thing for my wife and kids to
watch," Pausch told Sawyer. "I think it
will be a real challenge to see if I can squeeze the lemons hard enough
to still get lemonade the last few weeks." ...
But Pausch said in the face of adversity, don't complain, just work
harder. Your patience, he says, will eventually be rewarded. ...
"You know, life is a gift," Pausch told Sawyer. "Again,
it sounds trite, but if you wait long enough, other people will show you
their good side. If there's anything I've [learned] that is absolutely
true. Sometimes it takes a lot longer than you might like. But the onus
is on you to keep the hope and keep waiting."
AND
SO IT IS!
Keep
the faith!
