"The
teacher of teachers is within you. You do not have to wander
around the world to find a great teacher, a prophet, or a guru.
However great a teacher may be, you are the one who must ask yourself
the most important questions of life and you are the one who must answer
them. ... If you will become still, answers will come to you. It
will be revealed to you that you are an individual expression of the
living Spirit. You have allowed your thinking to become so
conditioned by the world that you have forgotten who you are.
Instead of letting the world or any external thing dictate to you, you
should be dictating to it - directing it, guiding it."
- Dr. Frank Richelieu, The Art Of Being Yourself"
"John
10:34 Jesus answered them,
Is it not written in your law, I said, ye are gods?."
- The
Holy Bible, American Standard Version
Most
of us have learned so many things that diminish our confidence and
self-assurance. Many people have experienced frustration and
self-doubt regarding their ability to solve the problems of their lives.
And this self-doubt and frustration only increases our attachment to our
problems. So many of us have more faith in what we can't do, than
in what we can do. It is not unreasonable to expect someone who is
filled with self-doubt to seek answers and solutions outside of
themselves. But, as we learn from the writings of Dr. Frank
Richelieu above, we are the ones who must answer the important questions
of our life. No one else can ever truly understand the depth of
our thoughts or the power that we have given to our beliefs.
Self-reliance is absolutely necessary for
us to live free and detached from obligation and dependence on others.
Too often, we don't let the answer to our problems come to our
awareness, because we want things fast ... instantaneously, if not
sooner. We lose patience with ourselves, not because the answers
to our problems aren't within us ... but because we doubt that they are.
Many of us live in a consciousness of "self-doubt" rather than
"self-reliance" ... and we will do this until we can't do it
any more.
"I can do all things, through Christ
which strengthens me," we can read in the ancient scriptures.
This "Christ" is the spark of the Divine within each of us ...
It is "God-in-me" ... It is the Power and the Intelligence of
Infinite Spirit. It can do all things through us, if we let It.
And so as we recognize that this is so ... and become still, get
relaxed, and trust in It ... It will reveal Itself to us and through us.
I am being redundant here ... but we need to be in order for us to
escape our old thinking and our old excuses and our old dependencies.
The truth of the matter is, the time will come when we must truly
understand what we believe.
We were not born in sin, or in mere flesh and
bones ... we are "born in the Spirit" of the Almighty! I
continue to be surprised when I am confronted with people who tell me,
"well, we're all sinners, right?" ... no, we're not. Am
I saying that we have never made mistakes? ... of course not. But,
we are not our mistakes or our failures ... what we do, is not what we
are. We are always Spirit expressing in form, no matter where we
are or what we are doing. We are always a part of G-d, whether we
recognize it or not, for this is the very life within us. And,
knowing that we are "a part of G-d" is knowing that we have
the power to change the things that concern us. It is our
self-reliance.
We must make it a habit to affirm the power
within us every day. We must register this in our consciousness by
fostering and nurturing this truth, until the thought of anything
different, is foreign to us. So many of us go through life
thinking we don't know what to do. We let our problems have power
over us, rather than using the power within us to overcome our problems.
People will tell me, "I don't know what it is that is blocking my
prosperity" ... we know, but we must be willing to "get
still" and let the answer come to our awareness ... and when it
does, let it go ... release it from our consciousness by speaking our
word that it is no longer a part of us, no longer held in our
consciousness because we don't believe it anymore.
Jesus said: "Heaven
and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away."
And Isaiah understood something of this when he said: "So
shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return
unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall
prosper in the thing whereto I sent it." What both the
Master Mind Jesus and the Mystical Isaiah are telling us is: "Give yourself
credit ... our words can be powerful!"
Let's give ourselves credit. We have
what it takes to do the things that we want to do. We have what it
takes to be whatever it is that we want to be. We have it within
us to to give ourselves whatever good thing we can imagine for ourselves
as long as it takes nothing away from another. We must give
ourselves credit for who we really are. We must give ourselves
credit for what we can really do. We must give ourselves credit
for what we can really be. And we must make sure that we don't
allow anyone or anything to discredit that which we give credit to,
including our self. Give yourself credit, now.
AND
SO IT IS!
Keep
the faith!
