Emerson wrote, "There is
no great and no small to the Soul that maketh all." And in
this statement there is a lesson for each of us. Knowing that
there is no great or small to the Infinite, why is it that so often we
ask for so little? ... and often, accept even less? Is it a matter
of faith ... or is it that we have allowed ourselves to be conditioned
in our thinking by our environment, our past experiences, or the
experiences of those we know?
Is there room in our thinking for God to
be expressed in a much greater way? Or, have we restricted the
movement in our lives of the Infinite by thinking small? Each of
us have wants and desires, but how expansive are these wants and desires
of our hearts? Just how much of Life do we truly want to
experience? And how much of Life do we believe we can experience?
"All things are possible for
God" ... and this is true for the Power of God within us. But
how much is possible, is up to us. Are we willing to think much
greater than our current circumstance or our past experiences?
These are questions that are important for us to think about.
A few years ago the Prayer of Jabez from the
Bible, Chronicles 4:10, was very popular for awhile. It reads, "And
Jabez called on the God of Israel [man], saying, Oh that Thou wouldest
bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that Thine hand might be with
me, and that Thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me!
And God granted him that which he requested."
The prayer can be broken down to four parts:
1st, Jabez asks God to bless him [recognition of Source]. 2nd, He
asks God to enlarge his coast [consciousness]. 3rd, He prays that
God will be with him and stay close [Presence]. 4th, He asks that
God will keep him from harm so that he will be free from pain [God's
protection, security].
In order to radically change our lives ... we must
radically change the way in which we think about ourselves and the life
that we are living. Wanting a new job because we are bored or
unhappy with our current job ... is not radical thinking. Thinking
we are successful and accomplished right now ... even in the job that we
do not like ... is radical thinking. And these radical
thoughts impressed upon our subconscious ... will move us into the
experience of success and accomplishment.
Many people want to pay off their debts and be
debt free ... but this is not radical thinking. To see ourselves
prosperous and affluent while paying our bills ... is radical thinking.
Anyone can think about what they have in their bank accounts ... but the
great minds have always thought beyond the evidence presented to them in
form.
Radical thinking is to transcend the current
situations, circumstances and conditions of our life ... and think of
ourselves free and joyously living the life that we choose for
ourselves. This is more than just transcendent thinking but
actively using the power that is inherent within us. "These
things I do and greater things still shall you do" ... the Master
Mind Jesus stated. But the masses of us do not believe this.
We see the success of other people written about in newspapers and
magazines and talked about on television talk shows ... but we don't see
this great success and affluence for ourselves. We see greatness
for others but fail to find it within ourselves to imagine the same for
ourselves.
Radical
thinking increases our faith in ourselves and in God ... it takes us
beyond all that we have experienced in the past ... and even beyond the
dreams that we have failed to materialize. The Prayer of Jabez is
a perfect example that even thousands of years later, our relationship
with God remains as personal today as it did in the days of Jabez.
We can use this prayer, with understanding, to super-charges our
consciousness to absolute knowing that we can achieve, accomplish,
receive ... and experience the Good that awaits our acceptance.
