The Way to a Wonderful Life, Sunday, June 1,  2014

"The greatest vision that you have of yourself, no matter how wonderful it is, can still be surpassed.  You have talents that are not being used and abilities which are dormant.  Vision is the mental attitude that works on that which is in your consciousness and directs your talents into tangible form.  Vision, backed with conviction, followed by affirmative action, is always fulfilled.  This sequence of thought creates.
Vision contemplates that which is impossible, but you should
not defeat your vision by claiming it is impossible.  Each new vision should be greeted with an affirmative attitude that knows there is a way and that the way will be made known.  A truly great idea may at first seem to be beyond your reach, but realize that the idea is given to you because there is something in your consciousness that can fulfill it.
              Progress is continuous.
Everything that you do today you can mentally transcend through vision.  It is this stretching of vision that insures your growth and fulfillment."
- Dr. Robert H. Bitzer, The Creative Word

In the ancient wisdom we can read in the Book of Proverbs:  "Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he."  In this statement there are two spiritual concepts that we need to be aware of; vision and law.  Without vision we soon lose our enthusiasm for life.  I remember a few years ago someone told me that they were soon to retire from the United States Postal Service.  I asked him what he planned to do and he told me "absolutely nothing, I am done doing things."  Within a few short years his life changed dramatically.  He made his transition to the Here-after.  Without vision all manner of dis-eases can appear in our lives; depression, fear of death, hopelessness and even despair.  It is the vision that we hold in our thoughts that keeps our life energy vital and alive, and healthy.

When some people think of the word "vision" they immediately think it must be something on a grand scale, but a vision of seeing our grandchildren grow up or to see our children get married or to take a vacation to a destination we have never been to before all give us something that takes us beyond that which we are currently experiencing.  Now, some people will say "aren't we supposed to live in the present moment?" ... and yes, this is true, but we hold our vision in the present moment just as we pray or make affirmations that we don't truly expect to materialize in the exact moment it which we accept them as true for us.

It is so important for us to understand the law and to affirm its working in our lives daily.  The law is of the nature of G-d; Omnipresent, Omnipotent and Omniscient ... always present and available, all power and infinite intelligence.  The law is no respecter of persons any more than gravity or mathematics favors one over the other.  It is changeless, immutable Principle.  It is a law for good but we must recognize it and personalize it to benefit from it to any great degree.  It is through law that our faith becomes power.  It is through love that G-d has made the law available to us.

Gratitude is a spiritual law.  Dr. Bitzer writes:
"Gratitude is a positive receptive state of mind.  Jesus understood this by giving thanks before anything happened.  Gratitude creates within you a receptivity toward your good.  It opens definite channels through which your good can express."  Any thought we consciously choose to enter our mind that recognizes that there is Something Greater that is at work in our life draws to us a greater good.  As Jesus stated, "But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you."  In the Aramaic language of Jesus the word "seek" means to "bring to mind" ... and we do this by recognition ... "and his righteousness" means "right thinking" ... are we thinking we can or are we thinking we cannot ... have, do or be that which we hope for or pray for?

And how do we know that our vision is always fulfilled?  Dr. Bitzer explains it in simple terms:
"Just as it is difficult to know which came first, the chicken or the egg, so giving and receiving represent a continuous cycle of expression.  The secret of receiving is to know that the giver and the receiver are one."  It is the truth that no one gives to us but our self; that is, our own consciousness or soul.  No matter what channel our good may come to us, from people, from employment, or from a government check, we have drawn to us not only the channel but the measure of our good that we receive.  This is a truth that is very hard for people without some sense of spirituality to believe.  If we want more we must enlarge our "vision" ... no one else can do it for us.  As Dr. Bitzer writes "e
verything that you do today you can mentally transcend through vision"  and this is the truth regarding all that we want to do, all that we want to be, and all that we want to have.

       The ancient scripture states
"where there is no vision, the people perish" ... we may not perish ... but we probably won't be too excited about life.  Get a vision in your mind that generates enthusiasm and a greater interest in life and you never know where it might take you.

AND SO IT IS!

Keep the faith!
