The
study of the Science of Mind teaches us to create a greater control over
the conditions in our lives. And for most of us this will mean
that we have greater financial freedom, a greater sense of self-worth
and an independent spirit. People who study the Science of Mind
realize that it is a lifetime study, as we are studying Mind, which is
Infinite Spirit.
Most of us will encounter people in our lives who do
not understand our choice to study the Science of Mind. But few of
the people we encounter that find fault with metaphysics have ever read
a metaphysical book ... or at least they didn't know they did.
Most opposition to the study of metaphysics comes from religious people
who do not realize that the Bible is a metaphysical book ... and that
Jesus was the greatest metaphysician and taught consciousness.
"It is done unto you as you believe," is a reference to Mind
... whatever we think into Mind returns to us in our experiences as a
validation of our beliefs. This is metaphysics.
As we study the Science of Mind, we realize that all
healing is spiritual healing. Now, this does not mean that we do
not seek medical care or take medicine ... what it does mean is that we
use prayer and affirmations along with the medical care and medicine to
insure that we are not merely cured ... but healed. We realize
that unless the consciousness that created the illness, financial loss,
or whatever the discord may be ... is changed ... we will repeat the
experience of illness, lack or limitation. From the teaching of
the Master Mind Jesus, we can know that unless the belief is replaced
with a more lifeward belief, whatever has been done unto us will be done
again. Very few people outside of metaphysics have this awareness
and many will not even consider it ... even those who refer to
themselves as Christian.
The Science of Mind is not a religion,
although, there are those who are confused about this. Like the
teachings of Jesus, it points us to God ... and God alone ... never to
anyone or anything outside of us. "As within, so
without" ... is a changeless, immutable Law ... but it is a Law of
Good, for within us is all the peace, love, joy, harmony and happiness
we will ever need. Our work then is to tap into the infinite
reservoir that has God as Its Source and Supply. When we find
ourselves in difficult situations, we know that all we must do is,
"be still and know that I am God" ... and in so doing we tap
into the infinite Source of peace, harmony, abundance and intelligence
that lies within our mind waiting for our recognition of It. With
practice, this becomes our most effective action in solving the issues
and revealing the Good in any and all situations that we may face.
This, "being still and thinking only of God" is the same
action used by all the great mystics and healers. It is a
"turning over" the situation to God, Infinite Presence, Power
and Intelligence ... it is the only right action in the face of discord
of any nature.
We must not expect everyone in our lives to
understand our spiritual practice ... and we must always choose to
respect those who do not ... but it is imperative that we continue to
move onward and upward in consciousness in order to demonstrate the
Presence of God in our lives. "Many are
called but few are chosen," we can read in scripture. And we
know in metaphysics that this means that many are called but few choose
God ... choosing instead to look to the material world for solutions,
healing and help. And we have compassionate understanding for this
... as we march forward on the road less traveled.
