"...the
only intention God could have, if man is an individual, would
be to let the individual alone to discover himself." ... Dr.
Ernest Holmes, The Science of Mind
This week many people throughout
the world will be recognizing "Valentine's Day" with cards,
gifts of diamonds, chocolates and more with those they love and those
who love them. This message isn't really for them ... this message
is for those who are still "seeking" their life-mate and those
who are still "holding on" to someone who has left them.
The first message for 2006 on RevBates.tv
included a message by T. D. Jakes titled, "Let it go for
2006." I received more feedback from this message than almost
any other message that I have published. Why? ... because so many
people are struggling with "letting go" of someone in their
life. And for so many of these people their "ex";
boyfriend, girlfriend, wife, husband, partner ... is already involved
and oftentimes married to someone else. And for those who are
still "holding on" rather than "letting go" ... this
Valentine's Day may prove to be a very unhappy one.
This is what we can find in the Bible about
this: " ... they came out from us that
it might be made manifest that they were not for us. For had they been
of us, no doubt they would have continued with us." [1 John
2:19]
Now, many of the people who read this will
agree with it ... but they just cannot "loose" the feelings
that attach them to the person that has left. And many of them
will pray ... and pray again ... and pray some more ... that God will
"intercede" and "change" the heart of the one that
left them, and fill it with love for them. But ... God "does
not hear" this kind of prayer. Not because God is mean or
that God has turned from us ... but because this prayer seeks to
"choose" for another person ... and this can never be.
The Universal Law of "do unto others as you would have others do
unto you" ... cannot be manipulated. And who among us would
want anyone else to make our choices for us?
This is what T. D. Jakes has to say about this:
"You've got to know when it's over. Let me tell you something. I've
got the gift of good-bye. It's the tenth spiritual gift, I believe in
good-bye. It's not that I'm hateful, it's that I'm faithful, and I know
whatever God means for me to have He'll give it to me. And if it takes
too much sweat I don't need it. Stop begging people to stay. Let
them go!!"
T. D. Jakes'
statement may sound too harsh or too "final" for some ... but
it is in complete alignment with Universal Law. We do not have to
struggle for that which is ours: "that which is mine comes to
me" ... affirms the Highest Truth. It follows that I cannot
lose that which is mine ... and if someone leaves me ... then they were
not mine to keep. Intellectually, once again, we can agree with
this ... but where are our feelings in regards to this? That is
the important question.
In the Science of Mind we know that as we direct our
mind to anything and dwell upon it ... it becomes our experience.
If we dwell on illness ... we will find illness in our experience ... if
we dwell on "not having enough" ... we will find lack in our
life. If we dwell on who has left us ... or who we miss ... or who
we are lonely for ... we will experience "loss" in our life
... and not only will we not convince the person who left us to come
back ... we will have even more problems to deal with.
Spiritually we can find the way in which we must
"accept" our relationship with others, and we find this in our
relationship with God, Infinite Presence. The Divine One makes few
demands on us ... but these demands are ABSOLUTE ... we must
"trust" God ... for we cannot "love" that which we
cannot trust ... and lack of trust separates us from each other ... and
from God. Love and trust are so intertwined that it is impossible
to have one without the other in a healthy adult relationship. And
as we love God, we know that God never leaves us ... NEVER ... or
forsakes us. Our love for God and God's love for us ...
"joins us together" ... we are One with God ... and this is
the same in our human relationships. "My
God is a jealous God ..." we learn in scripture ... and this means
that God has a passionate commitment to us ... and for all of us I
suggest that we "develop" a passionate commitment to God ...
it will make all the difference on Valentine's Day!
And
So It Is!

Love Use Me In Its Own Good Way,
