This is the 3rd of 4 Lessons this month from
the Introductory Chapters of the Science of Mind, authored by Dr. Ernest
Holmes, Founder of Religious Science. Each year ministers in
Religious Science churches and centers review these very important
chapters. Lesson #1 can be read by clicking: "The
Thing Itself." Lesson # 2 can be read by clicking:
"The Way It Works." These lessons are the basics of the
Science of Mind ... a teaching that affirms the validity of Jesus'
statement, "it is done unto you as you believe."
Within these first four introductory chapters are the Keys to Life
Mastery.
WHAT
IT DOES
From
the Science of Mind: "
It is a beautiful and true thought to realize that every man stands
in the shadow of a Mighty Mind, a pure Intelligence, and a Divine
giving-ness! Not alone unto the great comes the soft tread of
the Unseen Guest. The arrogant have not perceived the simplicity
of faith, but the pure in heart see God. The farmer has seen the
Heavenly Host in his fields. The child has frolicked with Him at
play. The mother has clasped Him to her breast and the fond lover
has seen Him in the eyes of his beloved. We look too far away for
Reality."
The
intelligence by and through which we perceive that there is a Spiritual
Presence and an Infinite Mind in the Universe, constitutes our
receptivity to It, and decides Its flow through us. We have made a
riddle out of simplicity; therefore, we have not read the sermons
written in stones, nor interpreted the light of love running through
life.
To return
to a state of simplicity is one of the first and most important things
to do. All men receive some light, and this light is always
the same light. There is one nature diffused throughout all
nature; One God incarnated in all peoples. -
Dr. Ernest Holmes
As
we can read in both the Science Of Mind and in scripture, the Universe
is impersonal. It gives alike to all and is no respecter of
persons. We are all valued alike and Its nature is to impart or to
give and our responsibility is to receive. However, we must open
our minds to receive .. by letting go of ideas and thoughts that block
the Infinite as It moves to impart our highest and greatest Good ... the
Infinite can only give us what we can take; It imparts of Itself only as
we partake of Its nature. It can only tell us what we can
understand. The Infinite Knowingness becomes our wisdom only in
such degree as we embody Its Intelligence.
I believe we can only
"know God" to the measure that we are willing to
"experience God" ... and no more. Many of us fail to
demonstrate a greater experience of God or Good ... simply because we
hold onto ideas and concepts that deny the Infinite Impulse that seeks
to flow through us ... we cannot limit the Infinite ... nor can we bring
God down to the level of the physical ... and when we deny the Good that
comes to us by our steadfast and immovable ideas of materiality ... we
are denying the gifts that the Infinite is attempting to impart to us
through our very own consciousness.
An intelligent person
studying metaphysics understands that everything in our Life;
relationships, job, financial condition, health etc. are first accepted
in our consciousness.
To look at what we have demonstrated as inferior or not good ... is to
deny our own consciousness and to deny that the Infinite Good-ness is
surrounding us. Everything Is Good ... and no matter what we may
be experiencing ... our commitment must be to demonstrate more Good ...
not to demonstrate from a standpoint of lack to abundance .. or inferior
to superior ... to do so is spiritual ignorance ... what we have NOW ..
is Good ... this must always be our point of beginning as we pray or do
treatment for more Good in our lives. The Master Mind stated,
"he who has less will have even less and may even lose what they
have ... while he who has more will have even more still" ... this
speaks to our consciousness as it is aligned or not aligned with
Infinite Good.
